Terms of service
These are the rules of using Amateur Pet Transport. Using the site means you accept them.
We have written them in plain English on purpose. Last updated September 2026.
The basics
1. Who we are and what we do
Amateur Pet Transport introduces pet owners to travellers who are already making a long drive and have room to carry one animal.
Contact us at [email protected] or 479.517.0218.
2. What this agreement covers
Your use of this website and the introduction service. The transport itself is an arrangement between you and your driver.
3. Our role as an introducer
We check drivers, hold the money, set the suggested price and run the service that connects you. We do not own vehicles and we do not employ drivers.
Drivers are independent. They choose which trips to take and they are responsible for the driving and the care of your animal on the road.
4. Who may use this service
Adults, 18 or over, legally able to enter a contract, and in the case of a pet owner, the owner of the animal or somebody authorised by the owner.
Booking and money
5. Booking a transport
You send a request to a driver. They accept or decline. Their acceptance, followed by your payment, is what creates the booking.
Nothing is owed while you wait to hear back. A driver who declines must give a reason, which we pass to you.
6. Prices, payment and our fee
The price you are shown is worked out from the distance and how far the driver travels out of their way. It is paid in full, before the trip, by card or debit. We do not take cash.
We keep 20% and the driver receives 80%. Drivers may agree a different price with you for an unusual request, and we will tell you before you pay.
A driver must never ask you for money directly. If one does, call us.
7. Cancellations and refunds
If you cancel you receive 80% back. If the driver or we cancel, you receive everything back.
Full detail is on our cancellations page, which forms part of these terms.
Responsibilities
8. Your responsibilities as a pet owner
Tell the truth about your animal. Size, health, medication, and any history of biting or fear aggression.
Provide a valid health certificate at pickup, be reachable on the phone number you gave us, and be available at both ends of the trip or nominate somebody who is.
A driver may refuse an animal at pickup if it is materially different from what was described, or if the paperwork is missing. In that case the trip may be treated as a late cancellation.
9. Responsibilities of drivers
Hold current USDA registration, carry the vehicle and crate described, carry one client animal at a time, ask for the health certificate, and take reasonable care of the animal throughout.
Drivers agree to this in full in the driver agreement.
10. Health certificates and state requirements
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection dated within 30 days of delivery, or within 10 days if the destination is California.
Getting it is your responsibility. Without it, the trip cannot go ahead.
11. Animals we cannot carry
Anything longer than 48 inches lying down, animals with a known history of aggression towards people, animals too unwell to travel, and any animal a vet will not certify as fit.
We carry one animal per trip, so a pair who must travel together cannot be split across drivers.
If something goes wrong
12. Limits of our liability
We are responsible for running this service honestly and for checking drivers as described on our safety page.
We are not the carrier. We are not liable for the acts of a driver during the transport itself, and our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the booking.
Nothing here removes any right you have under law that cannot be removed by agreement.
13. What happens if something goes wrong
Call us on 479.517.0218. We hold records of the booking and the messages and we will give you everything we have.
If a trip is not completed you are refunded for the part that did not happen. If a driver falls short of what we expect, they stop driving for us.
Conduct and accounts
14. Messaging and conduct
Messaging exists so a client and a driver can arrange a trip without exchanging contact details. Ten messages each per day, per trip.
Do not use it to abuse anybody, to arrange payment outside the service, or to push somebody towards a private deal. Messages are removed a few weeks after the trip.
15. Accounts and private links
Your dashboard is a private link. Anybody holding it can see that trip, so treat it like a password.
Links stop working once the trip details are cleared. If you lose one, call us.
16. Suspension and removal
We can suspend or remove anybody who lies to us, mistreats an animal, tries to take payment outside the service, or behaves abusively.
We do not need a long process for this. An animal’s welfare comes before anybody’s convenience, including ours.
Legal housekeeping
17. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, and disputes belong in the courts there.
Before that, call us. Most things are fixable with a phone call.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. Bookings already paid for run under the terms that applied when you booked.
